Haim is finally back from their four year vacation. While being Taylor Swift’s Instagram arm candy sure looks like fun, the L.A. sisters are way too talented to stay out of the studio for that long. The studio is exactly where we find them in the new video for “Right Now,” the first single from forthcoming sophomore record Something to Tell You (out July 7).

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the video captures the sisters squarely in their element, as they work through a live studio version of “Right Now”. It’s a soulful slow burn with a powerful, percussive crescendo. PTA captures it with sweeping long takes. He’s fully aware of the song’s ebbs and flows. His roaming camera is always in the right place at the right time.

Aside from a study in the power of simplicity, the video is also a great showcase for three women with incredible musical prowess, which will be on full display on May 13, when they play Saturday Night Live.
