Last night, Halle Berry walked the Oscars red carpet in a shimmering Atelier Versace gown. She wore her hair curly, and looked stunning.
It’s been 15 years since Berry became the first black woman (and the only one so far) to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, and one might imagine that she’s very comfortable wearing fancy dresses at high-profile events.
She hinted otherwise in a slow-motion video she posted on Instagram last night with the caption, “After a long award show a girl can’t wait to take it off!“ The video, set to the Bruno Mars’ song “Versace on the Floor,” shows Berry unzipping her gown as she walks down a set of stone steps and approaches a swimming pool. She lets the dress fall around her and dives in for a little post-Oscars skinny dipping.
It’s a beautiful way to imagine Berry ending the night, but as People magazine pointed out, it’s strictly a fantasy. The video must’ve been shot ahead of time, because minutes after posting it, the actress arrived at Vanity Fair’s Oscars party, looking just as glamorous as ever. Could Halle Berry’s post spark a social media trend of celebrities sharing video of themselves undressing after red carpet events? We can only hope.
