If you’re unfamiliar with Halsey, you must’ve missed our recent Coming Attraction feature on the 22-year-old electropop artist. In her official bio, she describes herself this way: “I am Halsey. I will never be anything but honest. I write songs about sex and being sad.”

She showed off some of that honesty on Saturday when she tweeted a personal story about her reasons for participating in the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. The story, which she posted as an image, credits Planned Parenthood for help treating her endometriosis. Halsey recently had surgery to treat the illness, and marched despite her stitches.

To show her support for Planned Parenthood, she made a deal with her followers. For every retweet she got during a five-hour period, she’d donate $1 to the organization, up to $100,000. Even after she hit 100,000 retweets, people continued to share the tweet and Halsey’s story.

On January 6, she posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed. Despite being in pain following her procedures, she wrote in the caption, “If you suffer from chronic pain or a debilitating disease please know that I have found time to live a crazy, wild, rewarding life AND balance my treatment and I hope so much in my heart that you can too.”

Here are a few photos of the singer, whose “crazy, wild, rewarding life” has included opening for The Weeknd and Imagine Dragons, headlining her own tour, and being named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list:
