Hamas has rolled out a powerful new weapon in its fight against Israel … sort of. The Islamic militant group claims it has created a tank (or at least repurposed an existing one) using parts from a tank that was captured from Israel Defense Forces two years ago. Here’s a look at the new weapon on display at a recent memorial service:
Yep, that looks like a tank, alright. At least from that angle. I’m sold.
However, others were’t so sure. For example, Fatah, a rival Palestinian group, supposedly claimed the tank’s gun turret was actually a pipe.
“Can they excite the feelings of their supporters with … sewer pipes and fiberglass panels?” the group allegedly wrote in a poster mocking the vehicle.
Ofir Gendelman, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also pointed out that the tank in question appears to have wheels, and is probably just a glorified SUV:
Hamas paraded yesterday a “captured, rebuilt Israeli tank”. FYI, tanks aren’t made of wood and don’t run on wheels. pic.twitter.com/cP1e8KFjAJ— Ofir Gendelman (@ofirgendelman) February 1, 2016
Hmmm, sort of reminds me of these guys.
