Later this summer, an orgy for the disabled featuring hydraulic lifts and Sign Language interpreters will be held in Toronto, the Toronto Sun is reporting.

The event is being billed as “Deliciously Disabled,” and will cost $20 per ticket. It will be held at the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, which organizers say will hold about 125 people including 20 wheelchairs.

“A wheelchair can become just a big sex toy,” said organizer Andrew Morrison-Gurza who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Although the event is geared toward the disabled, able-bodied individuals are welcome. That’s great, because I didn’t want to have to play the "learning disability” card.

“The Berlin Wall of sex for people with disabilities is coming down,” said organizer Stella Palikarova, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy. “By making this party accessible, we are saying openly that people with disabilities are sexual beings.”

For those of you who are repulsed by the idea, Palikarova chalks it up to jealousy.

“The naysayers are just subconsciously hating the fact that people in wheelchairs are having great sex,” she said.

I’m not sure that’s fair, since in general, orgies tend to be pretty gross. I’m also not really sure how that “Berlin Wall” metaphor is applicable. That said, Palikarova and her group are bringing attention to the often overlooked issue of disabled people and sex. But as always, Japan is light-years ahead of us on the issue.
