Idris Elba just went from award-winning Hollywood actor to the next James Bond (and he’s already British, and dashing.) He teamed up with Bentley on May 7th to you know, drive around in a super fast, awesome luxury car, succeeding in having every dude’s dream job. Elba broke the British land speed record known as the “Flying Mile,” with the last record set by Sir Malcolm Campbell in 1927. And just how fast was he going in the new Bentley Continental GT Speed? Well, he got up to 180.361 MPH on the beaches of Pendine Sands, Wales.
The sweet Bentley that Elba got to play race car driver in has twin-turbo engines that produce about 635 PS and 820 Nm of torque and gets up to 206 MPH, but the Continental GT Speed will set you back about $230,000 dollars.
And this wasn’t just all for fun—Elba broke the record during filming for Idris Elba: No Limits, a four-part Discovery Channel series which will air in July. British, charming, handsome and loves driving fast cars? I’m sold.
