These days, there are more leaks coming out of Apple’s headquarters than the White House. Every day we get a new rumor about the upcoming iPhone 8, including the removal of the home button, the brand-new OLED display, the sleeker glass back panel and the dual lenses that are stacked on top of each other to help support augmented reality features that will be integrated into the phone. Another super fun rumor about the iPhone 8 is that it’s going to cost a whopping $1,000, according to our friends at Goldman Sachs.
Still, exorbitant price tag be damned, I will buy the shit out of the iPhone 8. We all will, because by many accounts, it’s a beautiful device with loads of dope features, and it’s been a minute since Apple’s iPhone upgrades truly justified the cost hike. From the looks of the latest leak out of Cupertino, it appears as if your $1,000 will be worth it.
Mashable dug up images published to Imgur and Reddit that reveal a brilliant edge-to-edge screen, opening up even more valuable real estate to view stunning photos (and stream stunning porn) on your entire phone. “I have a friend in the industry who just sent me these,” said the anonymous leaker, who is probably cooler than me. “He said the Chinese manufacturers got these last week.”
Then he dropped another bomb: “Big surprise for the iPhone 7s/7s Plus—supposedly it’s getting wireless charging as well!” Although as Mashable notes, that last item may be bunk. Wireless charging would be a friggin’ godsend, but recent reports have squashed the rumor.
Still, even if only some of these rumors are true, this is fake news we can get behind. The iPhone 8 is probably out this September, so start filling up your piggy bank now. Here are other huge updates coming to Apple in 2017.
