Juice Up
For many, the “3G” in iPhone 3G stands for “gobbles up battery power three times faster.” There are a number of ways to conserve your 3G battery’s juice (kill the 3G when you aren’t using it, reduce the phone’s brightness...), but a really simple solution to this energy crisis comes in the form of the Incase Power Slider Case ($99.95; goincase.com/products/detail/power-slider-ec20003). Connect the unit to your computer with the special USB cable that’s included, power it up, slip your 3G into the velvety smooth, black plastic case and you’ve got more than double the usage time (for example, five more hours of 3G web surfing).
In addition to more power and a protective case, you can also sync your phone without removing it from the Power Slider. The system is also designed to use the case’s extra battery power first before tapping into your phone’s source. While some might find the case a bit clunky, it made it easier for us to find our phone in the dark, messy recesses of our messenger bag and made it more comfortable to hold when viewing long-form videos—and we could get to the end credits of several flicks without running out of juice.
