Don’t always believe what you see on TV. That’s what Playmate of the Year 2008 Jayde Nicole would advise anyone who has seen her on Holly’s World or *The Hills. *Jayde has since moved on to her latest endeavor as a personal fitness trainer. We caught up with Jayde on Wednesday for our latest installment of Facetime. Be sure to follow her Workout Wednesdays blog here at Playboy.com.
Racheal Faye Ray: What inspired you to do Playboy and how has this opportunity impacted your life?Jayde: You know what’s funny is when I was first asked to do Playboy I said no. I was very nervous, very skeptical and I had never actually seen an issue before so I didn’t know what it was like. I went back home to Canada and my mom went out and bought an issue of Playboy, and it just so happened to be Sarah Jean Underwood’s issue. I looked at it and it was beautifully done. It was sexy but tasteful and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to do it.
Paul Knight: What is your choice of cheese when making a grilled cheese sandwich?Jayde: I actually really like to mix cheddar and pepper jack together.
August Rommelfaenger: Of all the things in life you have accomplished what have you not achieved yet, but want to?Jayde: So many things. There’s a million things I want to do still. Breaking into the fitness and nutrition genre has opened up a whole new set of goals I want to accomplish. We’re building a Jayde Nicole Charity Fitness Fund that raises money for rescuing animals and helping to provide medical needs for shelter animals, so I’m really looking forward to pushing that. I can make a list of a thousand things I want to do.
Amber Miller: Do you think reality TV has helped your career or tarnished your image? People automatically assume your mean based on these shows. How has that changed you? Or has it?Jayde: People definitely think I’m very mean until they meet me or come talk to me, but at the end of the day they’re all jobs and they definitely helped my career. At least people know who I am now. Now I just have to let everyone know I’m not that terrible, mean character I play on all the shows. That’s the next step I’m working on.
Helena Linder: What’s your best advice to maintain a slim waist?Jayde: It’s hard to narrow that down but a really big part of keeping your weight down is nutrition, and a lot of people ignore it. They’ll go to the gym five days a week but still eat crappy and they’ll notice they’re not able to drop those pounds or still gaining weight. I always tell people to focus on what they’re putting in their mouths, what they’re drinking and what they’re eating on a daily basis. It makes a huge difference.
Derik Smith: Who is a role model in your life?Jayde: Definitely my mom. She lives back in Canada but she’s definitely a great mom and I couldn’t do any of this stuff without her. She used to get up at 6 a.m. and drag me two hours to Toronto to do my modeling jobs, and help me pack up and move to LA. She’s definitely my biggest role mode and biggest help.
AC Gallant: What is your favorite workout exercise?Jayde: I really like doing plyometrics and anything outdoors. I love hiking. I don’t like using machines in gyms, I like doing more free weights and exercises I can do anywhere.
Venus Di Milo Goldman: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?Jayde: I see myself still in LA, still traveling around, working really hard, still in fitness and nutrition and continuing to help people get healthy, lose weight and gain confidence. I absolutely love doing it and helping people get their bodies and self confidence back.
Kyle A. Cummings: As much of a fitness nut that you are, what does a cheat day consist of?Jayde: My two cheat things I always go to are margarita pizza and anything peanut butter and chocolate—peanut butter and chocolate cookies, peanut butter and chocolate cupcakes. I have an obsession with peanut butter and chocolate anything.
Eric Applebee: If you could be any animal in the world, what would it be and why?Jayde: I would probably want to be one of my two Chihuahuas because those two dogs are spoiled rotten. They live this pampered lifestyle and I think that’s what I would want.
