There are a lot of summer blckbusters out there and there are only so many hours in a day. As a result, you might look at a lot of upcoming summer movies and decide you’re better off catching them on cable. The sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World has just ensured that it will not be one of those movies.
Yes, now you have to buy a ticket to see Jurassic World 2, because for the first time in 20 years Jeff Goldblum will take on dinosaurs as Dr. Ian Malcolm again. And where Goldblum goes, we follow. That’s just biology.
Goldblum was not the primary star of 1993’s Jurassic Park. He did seem to be the person in the movie most willing to call the idea of resurrected dinosaurs dangerous as hell, though. He also had that leather jacket and all that awesome dialogue. So he became the film’s science sex symbol, as evidenced by the photo above. Fan love for Goldblum was strong enough that he got top billing for 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park. When that film failed to live up to the original, he sat out both the third and fourth installments in the franchise. Internet love for the character has only grown in his absence.
So, Dr. Malcolm will come back this time, presumably to once again lecture everyone on the dangers of dino theme parks. The exact level of his involvement is still unclear, but hearing Goldblum’s name in association with the franchise again was enogh to get Nerd Twitter to freak right the hell out.
