Jennifer Lawrence is the world’s highest-paid actress thanks to the box office oomph of her Hunger Games and X-Men films. Amy Schumer is 2015’s breakout comedic star thanks to the continued success of Inside Amy Schumer and her hit film Trainwreck. A few weeks ago, after photos of Lawrence crashing Schumer’s summer vacation in the Hamptons arrived online, Jon Stewart joked that the two stars were destined to make a movie together. Well, as with so many things, Stewart was right.
Lawrence revealed to The New York Times this week that she and Schumer are co-writing a comedy in which they will play sisters. Lawrence didn’t reveal a title, a plot, or when they hope to get the movie made, but it sounds like she and Schumer are having the time of their lives writing it.
“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”
So, two of the world’s most beloved actresses, one of whom happens to be one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, have joined forces, just as the prophet Jon Stewart predicted. It’s hard to imagine how this movie could fail.
