Jennifer Lawrence is a gift that keeps on giving, and her latest brush with the media may be her most commendable yet. On Wednesday, Radar Online posted what was likely intended to be a damning video of a drunk and uncoordinated Lawrence dancing on a stripper pole while out in Australia for her best friend’s birthday.
Instead of playing the part of entitled celebrity and claiming the video was of someone else, J-Law took to Facebook and owned up to her actions.
“Look, Nobody wants to be reminded that they tried to dance on a stripper pole by the internet,“ she writes. “It was one of my best friend’s birthdays and I dropped my paranoia guard for one second to have fun.”
In the message, she tells fans that she’s “not going to apologize” for her behavior and explains she “had a BLAST that night.” As she damn well should.
True to form, the Hunger Games star closes with a goofy anecdote. “Ps: That’s not a bra it’s an Alexander Wang top and I’m not gonna lie, I think my dancings pretty good. Even with no core strength.”
In response to the lucrative endorsement, designer Alexander Wang posted a screenshot of Lawrence’s message on Instagram with the caption: “My job is done.”
Lawrence’s message has accrued over 152,000 likes, 1,700 shares and well over 5,000 comments. So it’s safe to say that nobody’s judging the Oscar-winning actress for being human. Which is refreshing, considering we generally view celebrities as anything but.
But really, who are we to judge anyway? Lawrence, who is 26, got drunk at a strip club. Big whoop. Who hasn’t? Hell, if I were a celebrity, videos like these would be a weekly occurrence.
So let’s call it as it is: Lawrence was living her best life this week and tried her hand at stripping. Shit, if she wanted to lie to us, she could have told us it was for a role.
