Jimmy Fallon is well aware that he is not living in Johnny Carson’s world, and that generating viral moments people can watch on the internet the next day is arguably just as important to The Tonight Show’s success now as producing a show people will tune into every night at 11:30. So, if something seems to work, Fallon’s gonna stick with it.

Last night, Fallon and The Roots welcomed back Justin Timberlake for the sixth installment in the always-popular “History of Rap” medley series, which dates back to Fallon’s Late Night days. This installment was a tangential tie-in to the release of Straight Outta Compton, so obviously that song made the cut, along with tracks from LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys, Nelly and more. As usual, it was a mix of odd (two very rich white men screaming “Fight The Power”), silly (The Hammer Dance got a spotlight), and…well, fun (two grown men repeatedly saying “lick your boom boom down”).
