A new “smart” fabric will permanently smell like Johnnie Walker whisky, but we’re willing to bet that no “smart” person would ever want to wear clothes that always smell like booze.
Developed in Scotland (where else?) for Harris Tweed Hebrides, the futuristic tweed is woven with a micro-encapsulated fragrance called Aqua Alba. Johnnie Walker says the scent has the same subtle aromas as the nose of a glass of whisky: “rich malt, golden vanilla, red fruit and dark chocolate tones.” Harris Tweed will release a line of products incorporating the textile in Germany, Greece and Belgium. There better be a whisky-scented kilt!
