The NFL owns Thanksgiving with its annual games featuring the Lions and Cowboys. The NBA, however, has Christmas on lock. Every year the league rolls out a slate of marquee games that provide a welcome diversion from pretending to like that pair of socks you received from your sister. With the NBA owning the sports landscape for the day, players like to step out in special sneakers for the occasion.
Jordan Brand recently revealed the shoes and colorways that its roster of athletes will wear on Christmas Day. New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will step out in his new Melo M11 against the Washington Wizards. Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul will wear a special makeup of his signature shoe, the CP3.VIII, against the Golden State Warriors. Paul’s teammate Blake Griffin will take the floor in the Super.Fly 3.
All three shoes feature shades of Cardinal red, a color that Michael Jordan made famous with the Air Jordan VIIs he wore on Christmas Day in 1992 when he dropped 42 point on the Knicks. It’s also a color that fits in well with the season, but that you won’t mind wearing once the holidays have past.
The Christmas Day shoes will be available starting Christmas Eve at Jordan.com.
