Last night, $200,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from Kendall Jenner’s home in the Hollywood Hills. Jenner wasn’t home at the time, and according to TMZ, the thieves may have been people the 21-year-old model considered friends.
A law-enforcement source told TMZ that Jenner invited a bunch of friends over for a party. At one point, she heard an alarm that meant someone had opened a door, but she didn’t think anything of it. Jenner went out for a while around midnight, even though her friends were still in the house. When she came back an hour later, she noticed that her jewelry box was open and things were missing. That’s when she called the police.
There were no signs of forced entry, so it sounds like someone who knew Kendall—and where she kept her valuables—may have helped themselves to the jewels. This story is reminiscent of when Jenner’s half-sister Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris last October. When they were caught, the thieves told police they’d targeted Kardashian after seeing photos of her wearing expensive jewelry on her social media pages. While Jenner’s experience didn’t involve violence, it must be traumatizing in a different way, because it sounds like she was ripped off by someone she trusted. A lesson for all of us: Be careful who you let stay in your home when you’re not there.
