Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have a weird sort of celebrity, when you think about it. Kim’s image began, as we all know, as a hyper-sexual hanger-on. She would be in a relationship with a “real celebrity,” like a singer or basketball player and people would deride her as “famous for being famous.” The obvious subtext there is: This is a woman who owns her sexuality and that persona somehow threatens the viewing public. The soft assumption was that she would be a flash in the pan, drifting out of the public consciousness as her scandal became too much for her benefactor to bear.

Of course, she became much richer and more famous than anyone she ever dated. Not only that but she dragged her whole family to fame along with her. A career founded in scandal has since transcended it, becoming even more American than apple pie.

Kylie Jenner is just the opposite. The somewhat innocent youngest sister of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, she has seen her star rise, driven by the twin forces of her own self-conscious sexualization (and physical metamorphosis) and her position as a legitimate cosmetics mogul. Like her older half-sister, she’s dragged Tyga into some level of respectability even as he does his best to trash it. Her persona seems constantly on the brink of scandal without coming close to doing anything actually untoward. She, in a way, has taken our collective memory of Kim Kardashian’s former reputation as a sex object and reshaped it to include an image of more-or-less monogamous purity. We look at her and see Kim’s sexuality. She doesn’t even have to supply her own. Meanwhile, she’s used her celebrity status to become a purveyor of must-have accessories.

Both Kim and Kylie are perfect examples of women that are unafraid of their own sexuality and use it to advance their own personal interests. A master class in modern femininity.

Anyway, they’re topless in the video above. Awooga, you perverts.
