This year marks the 25th anniversary of Kindergarten Cop, the hit comedy that ensured fans everywhere would be asking Arnold Schwarzenegger to say the word “tumor” over and over for the rest of his life. We don’t know how Schwarzenegger is commemorating the anniversary, but apparently fellow Expendable Dolph Lundgren is celebrating by starring in a sequel alongside former VJ Bill Bellamy.
Yes, Kindergarten Cop 2 is real, and there are photos to prove it. According to Manly Movie, Lundgren stars as another cop who has to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher to stop a criminal, but this time it’s a little more complicated.
“The new Kindergarten cop is a leading man type with an Indian sidekick named Sanjit. They’re on the trail of a missing flash drive from the Federal Witness protection program. Somehow it’s wound up in a kindergarten class. Flimsy premise, but it puts him side by side with a beautiful teacher and they hit it off. There’s also bad guys involved — this time they’re Albanian.”
The film will reportedly only be a direct-to-video release, but it’s such a strange exercise in sequelizing that I might just have to watch it anyway. And hey, while we’re getting Lundgren to make sequels, I’d like to pitch my idea for Drago, in which his Rocky IV character turns his back on Communism and literally punches down the Berlin Wall.
