The original Guardians of the Galaxy movie showed us a wilder side of the Marvel Comics universe in 2014, and in a couple of months Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be here to up the ante once again. The latest trailer, which dropped Tuesday night, kicks off with the Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the gang fighting a massive tentacle monster, and things only get stranger from there.

We’ve already seen plenty of footage from the film, which will mark writer-director James Gunn’s second Marvel adventure, and we’ll likely see plenty more before it comes out in May. What we don’t have is much of a plot—but with trailers like this, we don’t really need one. This thing is another two-and-a-half minute maelstrom of guns, aliens, spaceships, Rocket Raccoon and killer ‘70s pop. Who knew Fleetwood Mac and the Marvel Universe went together so well?

This trailer is particularly noteworthy, though, because it gives us our first glimpse of Kurt Russell as Star-Lord’s super cool Space Dad. And really, isn’t that what we all want in our family tree?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives May 5.
