No one should ever expect Kylie Jenner to blend in, even when wearing a print originally intended to make people go unseen. The 19-year-old just dropped the latest collection on her highly-trafficked online store, “The Kylie Jenner Shop,” which she models on the site, centered around an in-your-face camouflage theme.
To tease the collection, Jenner shared a video of – what else? – herself, taking a video selfie wearing a coordinating Camo “Dad” Hat, crop top, and sweatpants, with the surprisingly affordable ensemble totaling $87.
Her BFF, Jordyn Woods, aka self-touted “Wifey’s Mascot,” also showed how to rock a Kylie look on the courts.
The newest collection, which is shopable here, also includes lighters, hoodies, anorak jackets, windbreaker pants, tees, and bikinis (which she has renamed “camokinis”) – in classic camo green, a cotton-candy baby pink and pale blue combo, and the vibrant neon orange Jenner appears to favor.
However, Kylie is now the latest of the sisters to come under fire (As everyone knows, Kendall has just weathered a number storms including her major Pepsi debacle). One issue over the collection appears to be over the ingenuity and artistic integrity of the pieces. According to The Hollywood Reporter, an indie brand named PluggedNYC claims Jenner recreated their designs.
The other issue involves fans apparently up in arms saying Jenner is attempting to take credit for a look Destiny’s Child modeled back during their heyday in their “Survivor” video. This uproar apparently happened after Perez Hilton tweeted Jenner “is trying to make camo bikinis a thing” which sparked debate as to why Jenner continues to receive mountains of credit for her every move. Adding to the issue, the accusations include claims of cultural appropriation.
How’s this for a flashback to 2009 with Beyonce and crew showing how to carry on.
Meanwhile, Jenner appears to be going about her daily business, deflecting from the controversy, by sharing videos of herself doing newsworthy stunts like cutting her hair on Snapchat, getting people excited about her next cosmetic launches, and sharing videos kissing her friends.
