Swedish DJ Alesso Talks Spicy Tuna and Tax Fraud

Swedish DJ Alesso Talks Spicy Tuna and Tax Fraud:

Heartthrob DJ Alesso is — along with IKEA, Pippi Longstocking and blondes — among Sweden’s greatest exports. Since he was taken under the wing of Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso in 2011, Alesso has risen to fame as one of EDM’s most celebrated producers. He told Reddit, “My goal in production and music as a whole is to uplift, inspire and brighten the electronic landscape of music.”

Set to release his first studio album next week, Alesso shows no sign of slowing down. Where, by and large in the EDM community, the music produced tends to come before the persona of any one DJ, Alesso’s unique charisma serves to set him apart. Like a ’70s rockstar, the man is in as high demand as his music.

What was your first exposure to Playboy?
Probably online, as a kid.

What’s your pop culture blind spot?
I don’t know much about country music and it’s really popular here in the US. I barely know anything about it. I just know, what’s his name, I can’t even remember his name.

What is the greatest song of all time?
That’s too hard to say. One of the greatest songs of all time for me is “Billie Jean,” by Micheal Jackson. That song is genius.

When you got your first big paycheck what did you spend it on?
I think I went out with my friends and spent it on alcohol. I was a kid. You don’t know what to do when you get some money. You have those moments sometimes.

If you were on death row, what would you want your last meal to be?
Crispy rice, spicy tuna. That’s my shit.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Well, people that don’t cut their nails and stuff like that. When it’s not nice. Because then you know that they’re not really thinking about hygiene. If there’s dirt underneath nails. Not that I look, but it’s the first thing that popped into my head.

If you could get away with any crime, what would it be?
Probably tax fraud. We pay so much tax where I’m from in Sweden, it’s like 60%.
