Few television shows have had a greater impact on men’s style than Mad Men. Louie may show the world an excellent example of Dad Bod, but you don’t exactly see guys asking store clerks for the “Louis CK look.” And Bryan Cranston’s Walter White didn’t inspire a run on yellow hazmat suits after Breaking Bad.
Mad Men is different. Even as Jon Hamm’s Don Draper moved through the decades, he always looked sharp, whether he was in a perfectly tailored suit with a skinny tie or lounging by the pool in a short-sleeve polo sweater. No detail was overlooked, right down to the accessories like the hats and tie bars. Now another accessory from the show is coming up at auction.
As part of its Rare Watches & Important Discoveries auction, Christie’s is auctioning off four watches that were worn by characters on season 5 of the show. The watches that are on the block are an Omega Seamaster worn by Don Draper, a Tudor Oyster-Prince worn by Roger Sterling, a Hamilton “Sputnik” worn by Pete Campbell, and a Jules Jurgensen worn by Megan Draper. Each of the watches is estimated to go for between $1-$2,000.
The watches are being auctioned by vintage watch dealer Derek Dier, who loaned them to Mad Men, and come with a letter of authenticity from Dier and Ellen Freund, the prop master on the show.
The Hamilton, Jule Jorgensen, Omega, and Tudor are arranged clockwise in the photo below.
