Besides signaling the unofficial beginning of summer, June 1st is our very first cover girl Marilyn Monroe’s birthday. And to celebrate the Playboy model and sex icon, art collector Andrew Weiss curated the iconic collection “Happy Birthday Marilyn!”, showing at POP International Galleries in New York City on June 17.
The gallery showcases rare photos of Monroe through 1945 to 1962, including this pretty amazing photo of a young Monroe at the beach before she hit stardom.
The gallery features images by photographers William Carroll, Andres de Dienes, Lazlo Willinger, Milton Greene, Kashio Aoki, Bert Stern and George Barris. Here’s a look at some of the other photos the gallery will show off in celebration of what would’ve been her 89th birthday.
