If you’re going to cover music from a video game on YouTube, you might as well do it with some style.
Pianist Sonya Belousova of the YouTube filmmaking team Player Piano took that idea to heart in this video. She’s playing a kick-ass medley of Super Mario Bros. music, on a piano modeled to look like a giant Nintendo Entertainment System. She even blows into it for the full 1980s home video gaming effect.
Even cooler: Player Piano is going to give the piano away to one of its fans when its YouTube channel hits 1 million subscribers. They’re at about 90,000 right now, so if you’re in need of a classical musical instrument that looks like a piece of pop culture history from 30 years ago, there’s still time.
