NFL running back Marshawn Lynch will be in a video game you can play later this year, and it’ll have nothing to do with football and everything to do with shooting dudes. In the future.
Publisher Activision revealed today that Lynch will play a major character in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III. An exclusive ESPN The Magazine report details Lynch’s experience with motion capture filming and 3D image scanning for the game, and reveals that Lynch plays a mercenary, apparently has a robot arm thanks to the game’s setting in the 2060s, and might be a bad guy.
The quotes from the article are priceless. Lynch is teetering right on the edge of Beast Mode: “Am I gonna leave this thing with brain damage, or is this gonna make me smart?” he asks of the 3D scanner buzzing around his head.
Hopefully this cross-pollination goes both ways. Kevin Spacey featured heavily in 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and I will definitely buy next year’s Madden if I can make him my QB.
