Fanboys, fangirls, meet your final Defender.
The first full trailer for Iron Fist, the fourth collaboration between Marvel Television and Netflix, has been released, showing Game of Thrones star Finn Jones as Danny Rand: son of a successful businessman who, after the death of his parents, gets raised in the mythical city of K'Un L'Un and becomes the greatest martial artist in the world. He’s so gifted, in fact, that he gains a supernatural ability to punch things really, really hard with a glowing fist that is, in the words of the original Marvel comic book, “like unto a thing of iron.”
Keeping Jones company in his new fisting career are Jessicas Henwick and Stroup (playing martial-arts ally Colleen Wing and love interest Joy Meachum, respectively), along with David Wenham as Harold Meachum, the man potentially responsible for the death of Danny’s folks and, of course, father of Danny’s potential girlfriend. Rosario Dawson, who’s shown up in all of the previous Marvel/Netflix shows to date, will also appear.
Iron Fist’s March 17 release marks the debut of the final solo series before Marvel’s The Defenders, a miniseries teaming up Iron Fist with the stars of the earlier Marvel/Netflix collaborations: Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. That eight-episode series is expected mid-year. For now, watch what kind of kung-fu fighting you can expect from Iron Fist next month.
