The Martian – a film about an astronaut (Matt Damon) who finds himself unexpectedly stranded on Mars with limited resources and time – hits theaters this week, so the publicity machine for the film is cranking at full speed, throwing out trailers and clips to make sure everyone is aware the movie exists.

For me, that’s a good thing, because I’ve already had the chance to see The Martian, and I think it’s very good. It’s the kind of space adventure movie I can get behind, and one of the reasons why is the film’s willingness to embrace humor. The stakes couldn’t be higher for Damon’s character, Mark Watney, but there’s a surreality to his circumstance that allows for a lot of fun to be had. For instance, the latest cip from the film, which we’ve shared above, features NASA ground crew members debating whether or not Watney’s alive or dead, followed by Watney’s own video update in which he laments what’s truly the saddest part of his predicament: The only music he has to listen to is disco.

The Martian hits theaters Friday.
