Remember that douchebag in Wedding Crashers who exclaims, “Crabcakes and football! That’s what Maryland does!!!”? If that movie featured an Italian guy, he’d probably be screaming the same thing about pasta and sports cars. Italy has a long and storied history of producing incredibly fast and beautiful cars that end up on posters in teenaged boys rooms. The twin pillars of Italian automaking are Ferrari and Lamborghini, who have each been making drool-worthy cars for decades and continue to push auto engineering and design forward in truly awesome ways.
But the most powerful hypercar to come out of the country comes from neither Maranello nor Sant'agata (the homes of Ferrari and Lambo, respectively). Mazzanti is a bespoke supercar manufacturer and the company just revealed its latest creation at the Turin Auto Show. The Mazzanti Evantra Millecavalli is the most powerful street-legal car to ever come out of Italy. It has a 7.2-liter V8 capable of putting out 1,000 horsepower. The Evantra Millecavalli goes 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and tops out at 250 miles per hour. Featuring newly designed carbon ceramic brakes, the car is also able to slow down incredibly fast, dropping from 186 mph to 0 in just seven seconds.
The Evantra Millecavalli is the successor to the original Evantra, which was first unveiled in 2013. Only 25 of the latest version will be created and the version shown at the auto show is only a prototype designed to be ready in time for Turin. Mazzanti is still figuring out the details necessary to make a production car, but when it does, you can bet it won’t come cheap.
