We’ve been waiting for months to find out what Serial, the Peabody Award-winning podcast that went viral last year thanks to its chronicling of the murder trial and possible innocence of Adnan Syed, would do next. We’ve known for a while that the podcast was developing a second, and even third season, but we didn’t know what the story was. Now, it’s apparently been revealed.

Deadline reports that Serial Season 2 will focus on the case of Bowe Bergdahl, a U.S. Army soldier taken captive by the Taliban in 2009 after he left his Afghanistan base under mysterious circumstances. Bergdahl was part of a high-profile prisoner exchange last year, and has since come under scrutiny and been charged with desertion due to the circumstances surrounding his capture.

According to the report, Serial host Sarah Koenig will be working closely with journalist-turned-screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) and former New York Times editor Hugo Lindgren, both of the Page One production company. Page One is already at work on a film version of Bergdahl’s story, and Boal and Lindgren will be simultaneously advancing Koenig’s investigation and developing their film.

So get ready, Serial fans. Later this year, we get an all-new mystery.
