Megan Fox is (Temporarily) Replacing Zooey Deschanel on ‘New Girl’

Megan Fox is (Temporarily) Replacing Zooey Deschanel on ‘New Girl’:

If you were tasked with temporarily replacing Zooey Deschanel’s awkward bubbly schoolteacher heroine Jessica Day on the hit TV show New Girl, it’s likely that assertive, dark-haired cheerleader deluxe Megan Fox probably wouldn’t make the short list. But it’s happening.

In the coming fifth season, Fox will play Reagan, a pharmaceutical rep that rents out Jess’ room in the apartment while Jess is sequestered in one heck of a stint of jury duty. In real life, Deschanel will be on maternity leave.

Series creator and show-runner Elizabeth Meriwether is stoked:

“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This Is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part — she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”

If they weren’t all currently about other ladies, here’s what I’d expect from the dudes upon Reagan’s arrival in the loft:

  • Schmidt would get after her as soon as she shows up with either schmoozy lowered eyes or an all too arrogant grin before she shuts him down, to which he’d clap his hands once in frustration and bellow a single word at her, something like “Firecracker!” or “Temptress!” before storming off.

  • Nick would swing in with one really good line. She’d respond to it. He’d nervously backtrack, realizing he’s in way over his head. She’d wait it out with a few hyper-aware, mildly confused looks, until he’d ultimately yell an excuse or accusation at her before retreating to his room.

  • Winston would come out and meet her, either as an act of politeness or because he’s simply on his way to the kitchen for a snack. She’d be intrigued by his puppy dog earnestness, which would intimidate him briefly, which would only make her more into him, which would then boost his confidence enough to start running game in almost cartoonish cockiness, dropping a refreshed intro like, “Yes, they do call me Winston the Rough Rider sometimes…”

Even if Reagan and Winston never become a hot item in Season 5, Megan Fox will be in living rooms come January, so the real winner is all of us.
