In the past few months, Emily Ratajkowski has made it very clear that she does not support the Trump administration. She has participated in several protests and regularly speaks out against Trump on social media. An outspoken feminist, the 25-year-old model is especially passionate about women’s rights issues, including a woman’s right to express her sexuality.
Last March, when Kim Kardashian faced criticism for posting a topless selfie on Instagram, Ratajkowski not only stood up for her, she posed topless with Kardashian to show her support. At the time, Ratajkowski tweeted, “We are more than just our bodies, but that doesn’t mean we have to be shamed for them or our sexuality.”
Yesterday, Ratajkowski took to Twitter to defend an even bigger celebrity—Melania Trump. EmRata was at an event over the weekend when a reporter sitting next to her repeated a sexist rumor about the First Lady. Without naming the reporter, Ratajkowski tweeted her disgust at the attempted “slut shaming.” In a follow up tweet, she wrote:
Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bullshit.— Emily Ratajkowski (@emrata) February 13, 2017
Melania Trump responded, in what was only her fifth tweet from her official White House account, giving Ratajkowski a shout-out for defending her:
Is Emily Ratajkowski the feminist superhero America needs? Quick, someone make this girl a cape!
