Street harassment is a problem (if you recall Playboy.com’s cat-calling flowchart, and a number of viral videos over the last few years have rightfully brought more attention to it. The most recent one, a profile by journalists Jeff Seal and Malena Gaze, features members of the punk band Las Hijas de Violencia (The Daughters of Violence) combatting street harassers in a unique way: their music with confetti.
When a mouthy pervy stranger comes at them with cat calls and inappropriate comments, they retaliate with blasting their tune “Sexist Punk” and singing along. The song drops some heavy lyrics.
“What you’ve done to me is called harassment. If you do this to me this way, I will respond. You talk to me as if you were going to rape me.”
The crew has fun while laying down truth for the locals.
