Mickey Rourke Won a ‘Professional’ Boxing Match Against a Homeless Guy

Mickey Rourke Won a ‘Professional’ Boxing Match Against a Homeless Guy: Fox Searchlight Pictures

Fox Searchlight Pictures

62-year-old Academy Award-nominated actor Mickey Rourke took a page from the Rocky IV playbook and flew to Russia to show off his boxing prowess. But instead of fighting a steroid-infused Communist beast like Ivan Drago, Mickey beat the shit out of a homeless guy.

Rourke won the exhibition bout in the second round after knocking his opponent, Elliot Seymour, to the ground twice, leading to the referee calling off the match. Seymour’s a former California Golden Gloves Champion and has fought professionally, but the Daily Mail reports the entire fight was fixed so The Wrestler star would win.

Rourke also boxed professionally in the early 1990s, where he garnered a record of six wins and two draws. He also had to undergo plastic surgery after his fighting career ended, although he still looks like someone who’s been punched in the face repeatedly for two decades.

After the fight, Rourke said, “I’ve got some things going on in my life so that [boxing has] sort of saved me from myself. And for a man like me, it’s better to live in fear than go on in shame.”

Not nearly as entertaining without The Wrestler’s Darren Aronofsky directing the action.
