Complex directs us to a new Tumblr account called Every Single Word Spoken that’s presenting embarrassingly short edits of popular films, reduced only to lines by non-white actors. Oftentimes, that means the videos don’t have any lines at all, as was the case in Into the Woods, a film that made over two hundred million dollars at the box office.
Proving to be somewhat a racial Bechdel test, the series effectively demonstrates that most of Hollywood’s films are almost, if not entirely, white.
The project comes from the brilliant mind of Welcome to Night Vale performer Dylan Marron, based on his own experiences as a non-white actor. The entire series lives on Marron’s YouTube page, and is well worth a watch and a share to any and all Hollywood executives you may know.
