We’re in the home stretch of David Letterman’s run on The Late Show now, and before it’s curtains for Dave on May 20, plenty of his regulars will be stopping by to say a final farewell. Last night it was the always quick-witted Nathan Lane’s turn, and he brought an original song he wrote with Tony-winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray). It’s called “Dead Inside,” and features plenty of digs at Letterman, NBC’s Brian Williams, and Lane himself.

There’ll be plenty more Late Show fanfare between now and the show’s finale, but hats off to Lane for going out with his own personal bang.
