Today is National Bikini Day, a day when we give thanks for the invention of tiny, two-piece bathing suits. French engineer Louis Réard introduced the modern bikini to the world on July 5, 1946, and that day deserves to be remembered for permanently increasing the amount of bare skin on display at pools and beaches everywhere. Technically, this special occasion should be known as International Bikini Day, because the skimpy swimsuit is popular around the world.
Another invention, Instagram, created in 2010, made it possible (and impossibly easy), for hot women to share photos of themselves in bikinis anytime they want.
