As sneaker companies strive to make products that are more friendly to the earth, a French artist has imagined a world in which the sneakers are made from the earth, or at least the flowers and trees that grow from it. For his Just Grow It series, artist Christophe Guinet covered Nike high tops in flowers and bark.

Guinet’s work is much more than slapping a bunch of dirt on some kicks. There is an extremely high level of precision in his assemblies. The original shoe almost disappears and a viewer is left beholding something completely new.
