Years before Kim Kardashian was a household name, another privileged young woman found her way to fame by way of a “leaked” sex tape and a reality TV show: Paris Hilton.

Hilton’s rise to stardom happened in the early 2000s, a time that feels downright prehistoric in social media terms, namely because she existed before Instagram. When Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian followed in her famous-for-being-famous footsteps a few years later, they attracted millions of followers along the way. Today, Kim Kardashian is one of the most-followed people on Instagram, with almost 100 million followers, while Hilton has a mere 6.9 million, a fact that probably irks Hilton to no end. Judging by the swimsuit photos Hilton has been sharing on Instagram this week, and the fact that she recently Snapchatted herself posing in lingerie, she wants a bigger piece of the social media action—and she’s willing to bare her body to get it.

On Monday, Hilton posted a photo of herself styled as Barbie, and in the caption, she referred to the plastic beauty as her “spirit animal.” (Nothing new here: This isn’t the first time the heiress has dressed as a Barbie doll.) She also shared two shots of herself wearing a pink bikini. Even in these pics, Hilton resembles Barbie, if you can imagine the doll cleaning the dream house pool.

Maybe before Hilton takes on the Kardashians, she’s starting a little smaller? Barbie is an international beauty icon, too, but on Instagram, she provides much less competition. The curvy doll has only 1.7 million Instagram followers, so Hilton already has her beat.
