It’s no secret that Prince is not a big fan of the Internet, which is why it’s so hard to watch the video for “When Doves Cry” (or really any Prince video) these days, and why you can’t get any of His Royal Badness’s albums on iTunes. So when live videos from his 2008 Coachella set hit YouTube, Prince’s label had them removed. That’s a shame for many reasons, but it specifically sucks because the set included a blistering cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

Back in 2013, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke said publicly that Prince should allow the “Creep” performance back online, because after all, it’s Radiohead’s song, and if anyone’s going to rip it off the ‘net it should be them (or maybe the Hollies). Now, two years later, the video’s back, and Prince’s Twitter account even shared the news of its release.

The video quality isn’t great, but the sound is quite good. The cover itself is… well, like all Prince covers, it sounds very much like Prince and very little like the original artist. A variation on the famous brooding guitar riff is there, as are most of the lyrics are intact, but everything else feels like the Purple One doing a darker version of “The Beautiful Ones,” complete with copious – and awesome – guitar solos.
