12 Pro Athletes That Looked Way Older Than Their Actual Age

Some people look older than other people at the same age. It’s a fact. And this fact is not any different for the athletic wonders who play professional sports. Need proof? Here’s proof in the form of 12 badass athletes who didn’t exactly age gracefully.

1. Greg Oden

The whole time Greg Oden played at Ohio State it seemed like we were watching an inspirational Disney movie about an old man who decided to give his dream of playing college sports one last hurrah. It turns out that wasn’t true, as he was drafted by Portland in 2007 at age 19.

2. Julian Rochester

If you’re wondering why you might not have heard of the 6’5, 300-pound defensive tackle yet, it’s because he’s not in the NFL. He’s also not in college yet, either. Rochester is a 17-year-old high school player from Georgia that you’ll definitely be hearing about in the near future. If he picked on you after school there’s not much you could do considering he could also beat up your dad.

3. Kendrick Perkins

Perkins has been one of the rare players to skip college and jump from high school to the NBA and actually have a successful career. That’s a picture of him at age 18 in high school. Imagine being an average 9th grader and having to guard that.

4. Roman Harper

It’s easy to mistake the NFL Pro Bowl safety as a member of the coaching staff, but that’s actually a picture of Roman Harper at the tinder age of 30. You know what they say, if there’s snow on the roof you’re probably going to get released by the New Orleans Saints and sign with the Carolina Panters.

5. Derek Harper

It’s not early gray hair or an intimidating, massive physique that made Harper look so much older; it was the fact that he looked like a high school geography teacher with two years left until retirement from the moment he entered the NBA. This was from 1984, when Harper was only 22, but you know he just wanted to get home and grade some quizzes.

6. Tim Raines

Baseball players definitely had a different look in the 80s than they do present day. Tim Raines is one of the all time greats, but it’s hard to believe he’s only 22 in this rookie card from 1981 and not giving a speech at his retirement celebration.

7. Bill Wennington

Before racking up three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, Bill Wennington (left) played college basketball at St. John’s with Chris Mullin and looked like a senior manager at Radio Shack. He’s actually around 20 years old in this picture and not a gigantic version of early 2000s Bob Seger.

8. Joseph Minala

How old would you guess this Cameroonian soccer player is? If you guessed 34 or above, you more than doubled his actual age. Joseph Minala is 17, which is so shocking a website actually launched an investigation to see if he was secretly in his 40s, with an altered passport. They verified that he is indeed a teenager.

9. Terry Bradshaw

If you told most guys in their 60s that they look exactly like they did in college, they’d be flattered. However, that is not the case with Terry Bradshaw. He’s stuck in what appears to be the teen years of Benjamin Button’s life proved by this picture of him in college at around 20-years-old.

10. LeBron James

Was there any doubt that LeBron was going to be an absolute beast in the NBA when he already looked like an All Star in high school?

Now he’s barely 30 and has to wear a headband everywhere he goes to cover up a hairline that’s fallen back further than Sauron’s army in Lord of the Rings.

Jeff George joined the NFL at age 23, but he already looked like your uncle in his mid-40s that would let you try a sip of his beer and tell you dirty jokes that you weren’t allowed to repeat. The mustache definitely added to that persona.

12. Brian Bosworth

Bosworth was known for being outspoken and controversial during his short NFL career, but it’s probably hard not to be arrogant when you look like the bad guy from a Steven Seagal movie at the age of 19.
