Rashida Jones has got a long road to travel before her career reaches the breadth and scope of her revered dad’s, but the actress-writer-director-producer is making great strides as far as multi-hyphenates go. This morning, hipster crooner Mayer Hawthorne dropped the video for his new single “Crime” featuring Kendrick Lamar and which Jones directed. (As one might expect, Quincy Jones’ pretty progeny’s musical tastes are more than solid; check out the soundtrack for Celeste and Jesse Forever which Rashida Jones wrote, produced, and starred in.)
But Jones is having a much better week than just that! On Thursday night, NBC will premiere a new sitcom entitled A to Z which Jones executive produced. Judging from the ads plastered all over the subways around my way, the peacock network is pinning high hopes on the glossy, serialized romance.
Eyeing Rashida Jones’ consistent record of industriousness and credibility, it almost makes you wonder what might happen if she’d met this guy at the right age. Okay, maybe not.
