Daniel Radcliffe took to Google+ to share a brief, lovely tribute to his Harry Potter costar Alan Rickman, whose death at age 69 was announced this morning. Among other things, Radcliffe, who grew up with Rickman thanks to the Harry Potter saga, and whom we last spoke with in our November issue 20Q, reflected on the surreal gap between Rickman’s personalities on-camera and off.

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner (or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.
