Looks like Trump’s America is already making punk great again, this news courtesy of Paper Magazine’s latest cover featuring a transformed Rihanna. The cover is one that deserves no better accolade than an upraised “Rock on” hand emoji. Sporting green spikey hair, a Christian Louboutin bra and Joseph’s Technicolor Dream Coat, Rihanna is all kinds of anarcho-stunning.

The look is a result of the Paper team taking “inspiration from her budding acting career and chameleon-like powers of transformation to cast her as a high fashion clerk in a bodega of the future.” If you are getting a neo-noir vibe, that is an intentional choice by the photo-stylists Farren Fucci and Shannon Stokes’. Stokes told Paper “Farren added the ‘future’ angle to give it a twist, so it became a challenge to envision what a girl who worked [at a bodega of the future] might look like.”

It has been a remarkable couple of years for Rihanna, as she definitively made flask drinking look glamorous, received the Harvard Humanitarian award and is set to star in the all-female Ocean’s 8. This is just the latest development of how 2017 has been and will continue to be her year.

Can someone preorder the cyber punk Rihanna action figure for me?
