On Tuesday, Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce from her husband Romain Dauriac in a New York court. They married in 2014, and have a daughter, Rose, who is two and a half. In January, news broke that the couple had separated last summer. Prior to her relationship with Dauriac, Johansson was married to actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.

The 32-year-old actress talked about marriage, and how challenging it can be, in her Playboy interview last month. “I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it’s a beautiful idea, and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing. I don’t think it’s natural to be a monogamous person. I might be skewered for that, but I think it’s work. It’s a lot of work. And the fact that it is such work for so many people—for everyone—the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing. It’s something I have a lot of respect for and have participated in, but I think it definitely goes against some instinct to look beyond.”

If you’re tempted to check Johansson’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram account to see how she’s coping now that the news of her divorce is public, don’t bother. She doesn’t use social media at all. She told Playboy, “I just never got on that bandwagon. I don’t even call people back. I don’t even check my voice mail. It’s not in my nature. I get it; it’s a great tool for a lot of companies, a lot of causes. I don’t know. I haven’t missed it in my life at all.”
