Hopefully everyone had a nice Memorial Day and kicked off summer in a way that makes the realization that Tuesday is actually Monday a little less tortuous. But no matter how epic your Memorial Day was, we’re betting it would have benefitted from some time on this incredible yacht.
Italian designer Gabriele Teruzzi revealed the concept for his “Shaddai” megayacht. Shaddai is conventionally translated as God Almighty and the ship will definitely make an owner feel like the master of the universe. (Teruzzi defines Shaddai as omnipotent, perhaps to avoid alienating any potential buyers on the grounds of religious beliefs.) The defining feature of the 492-foot yacht is an owner’s cabin that sits at the top of a 124-foot tower. The cabin is equipped with an infinity pool that creates the sensation of swimming in the sky. It’s also an excellent perch for lording over your guests who are enjoying themselves in the nearly 1,000 sq ft beach club on the main deck, swimming in an infinity pool, or gawking at the massive aquarium that stretches from floor to ceiling on the main deck.
Teruzzi designed the concept, which has an ethos that boils down to: “Take the owner to a point of extreme sense of power.” Indeed, it’s hard to not have a God complex when you survey all that is below you (literally and figuratively). Of course, we imagine that being on that lofty perch in a storm is all it would take to make a man, no matter how rich, recognize his own mortality. But who wants to think about all that existential crap when you’re on an awesome yacht like this. Let’s party.
