Footage from inside the Somali Airliner that was allegedly hit by a suicide bomber earlier this week has surfaced. In the video passengers on-board Daallo Airlines Flight 3159 can be seen calmly sitting in the rear of the plane despite a gaping hole in the starboard side of the aircraft’s fuselage:
Authorities speculate that the alleged bomber used TNT to blow a hole in the plane. Luckily, the suspected bomber was the only one killed in the blast, although two others were injured.
The bombing occurred while the plane was at an altitude of between 12,000 and 14,000 feet. Had the plane been at its cruising altitude of around 30,000 feet, experts claim the aircraft would have been destroyed. Luckily, that did not occur, and the pilot was able to safely return to Mogadishu.
I can’t get over how calm everyone looks under the circumstances. But I guess they were just happy to be out of Somalia.
As of now, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
