Movies have always provided a beautifully epic sense of escapism and a large part of that has been the silver screen’s dedication to special effects. Hollywood wants to give you the past, present, and future as visibly truthful as it can, so that theaters act like monstrous teleportation devices, at least for the mind. As the stories we tell in the film format evolves, so does the capabilities of cinematic illusions. From Moses parting the Red Sea to to intergalactic space travel, we want, hope, and (honestly) expect movies to get us as close to our imaginations as possible. So get hyped on this supercut of every movie that’s won an Academy Award for visual effects.
