Investor calls are boring, unless they reveal when Disney will launch its upcoming Star Wars lands at Disneyland and Disney World. That date is 2019, as Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed on the call.
He also announced that Pandora: The World of Avatar would open May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. That land will be based on the James Cameron movies of the same name, of course.
But let’s get back to this Star Wars theme park. The plans include a 14-acre attraction at both the Florida and California parks, and will come right around when Star Wars Episode IX is in theaters. This makes sense since any spoilers revealed in the attractions will be the fault of the attendees who were silly enough to not go see the movie the day it comes out.
Information about the attractions is understandably thin, but Disney is calling them the “largest-ever, single-themed land expansions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.” Here’s more info right from the mouse’s mouth:
“At each location, guests will be transported to a never-before-seen planet – a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space – where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. Check out some of our earlier images, including a glimpse at one of the signature attractions which lets you take the controls of the Millennium Falcon!”
That’s right - you’ll soon have the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon. Count us in, please.
