A computer science student has given us the version of Duck Hunt the world has always wanted (minus the ability to finally give that bastard laughing cartoon dog what he truly deserves).

Joseph Delgado, a 21-year-old student at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, used his programming wherewithal and an Oculus Rift developer kit to morph the 2D Nintendo Entertainment System light gun game into a fully 3D virtual reality experience.

It took some doing, morphing the 2D graphics into 3D versions and even using a 3D printer to create a custom head mount to ensure the aiming accuracy of his controllers.

The result is a pretty awesome entry into the Global Game Jam 2016 that Delgado says he means to release for free and port to the HTC Vibe VR headset. You can read more about the process of making the game on Delgado’s blog.
