If you ignore something, it will go away.
In general, that’s not a good policy, especially if you’re dealing with odors or rashes. But sometimes, it works out.
For example, two teenage Subway employees in Coventry, Rhode Island, thwarted a robbery attempt simply by ignoring it.
According to police, an overweight man in his mid-40s to mid-50s entered the store wearing a tan plastic shopping bag as a mask and demanding money. Rather than hand over the cash, the employees did nothing, and the robber eventually left. And as you can see from the picture below, he wasn’t exactly the most intimidating criminal. Is that a mask or a fake beard?
“[The suspect] became agitated and mumbled something under his breath as he walked out of the business,” police said.
At this point, I have to wonder if the two employees also ignored everyone else who walked into the restaurant that day. Perhaps they were so good at ignoring customers that they didn’t even know they were being robbed.
Either way, they’re truly heroes (by default).
